Kelly Clarkson isn’t just hitting the high notes; she’s also hitting the honesty button. In a candid chat with Whoopi Goldberg on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the 42-year-old singer and talk show host peeled back the layers of her weight loss journey, revealing a surprising aspect that caught many off guard.

It all started when Whoopi shared her own experience of shedding pounds, jokingly referring to it as losing “almost two people” with the help of “that wonderful shot.” Seizing the moment, Kelly confessed to also turning to a weight loss drug to aid her own transformation.

“Mine is a different one than people assume, but I ended up having to do that too because my blood work got so bad,” Kelly confessed, laying bare the health concerns that propelled her towards this decision.

But the road to accepting this intervention wasn’t without its hurdles. Kelly admitted to initially brushing off her doctor’s concerns for years, grappling with fear and apprehension, especially given her existing thyroid issues. It took time for her to come to terms with the necessity of medical assistance in her journey towards better health.

Reflecting on the pivotal moment that spurred her into action, Kelly recalled the shock of seeing herself on screen during a recording of a live concert special. The realization hit hard as she paused the footage, struck by the stark contrast between the image before her and her own perception. “‘Who the f–k is that?!’ I swear to god. It sounds insane,” she recounted, the disbelief evident in her voice.

The discrepancy between her self-image and reality was staggering. Despite her outward happiness, Kelly had been blind to the toll her weight was taking on her health. “You see it and you’re like, ‘She’s about to die of a heart attack’… I never saw that. I was never insecure about it. I was happy. I just did not see that,” she confessed, her words echoing the shock of that moment.

At her heaviest, Kelly tipped the scales at 203 pounds, a number that came as a revelation to many. Addressing the assumptions that often accompany weight struggles, she emphasized that her journey wasn’t rooted in misery or depression. “People assume, ‘She must’ve been miserable or depressed.’ And I was like, ‘No I was not.’ I had no idea,” she clarified, challenging stereotypes and shedding light on the complexity of personal transformation.
