Kim Kardashian just added another major milestone to her ever-growing list of accomplishments—she’s officially a law school graduate!
The 44-year-old reality star celebrated the big moment on Wednesday, May 21, with a sweet, intimate graduation ceremony that appeared to take place in a beautifully decorated backyard. The occasion was filled with love, pride, and a few surprises, as Kim’s close friends, family, and mentors gathered to recognize the moment she’s been working toward for years.
“I finally graduated law school after six years!!!” Kim announced over a video of her slipping on a graduation cap, visibly emotional. It’s a huge moment, and one that’s been a long time coming.
Her longtime mentor and friend Van Jones was among the speakers at the event, along with Jessica Jackson, one of the attorneys who’s been sponsoring Kim’s legal education.
“It’s an absolute honor to stand here today, not just as mentors, but as witnesses to one of the most inspiring legal journeys we’ve ever seen,” Jessica said during the ceremony. “Six years ago, Kim Kardashian walked into this program with nothing but a fierce desire to fight for justice. No law school lectures, no ivory tower shortcuts, just determination and a mountain of case log books to read.”
Jessica went on to paint a picture of just how much work Kim put into her studies. “Over the course of this program, Kim has dedicated 18 hours a week, 48 weeks a year for six straight years,” she explained. “That’s a total of 5,184 hours of legal study, that’s time she carved out while raising four children, running businesses, filming television shows and showing up in courtrooms to advocate for others.”
After the heartfelt speeches, Kim took to Instagram again to post photos of her kids—Saint (9), Chicago (7), and Psalm (5)—dressed in sharp suits, a touching nod to their late grandfather Robert Kardashian Sr., who famously worked as a lawyer during the O.J. Simpson trial.
Another charming detail from the celebration? The placemats at the post-ceremony party were made from Kim’s actual law school notes. It was a personal, full-circle moment.
Kim began her law journey in 2018 through California’s Law Office Study Program—a non-traditional route that allows aspiring lawyers to study under the supervision of a practicing attorney instead of attending a traditional law school. What should’ve taken four years ended up taking six, thanks in part to the pandemic and her incredibly busy schedule.
She’s had her fair share of setbacks along the way. Kim failed the baby bar exam three times before finally passing it in 2021 on her fourth try. But she never gave up, and now she’s nearly there.
The final hurdle? Passing the California Bar Exam. Once that’s done, Kim will be able to legally practice law.
