KJ Apa is going to be a dad!
The Riverdale actor revealed the happy news on Instagram Wednesday (May 20), sharing a photo of he and his girlfriend, model Clara Berry, lounging on a couch with her bare baby bump on display.
The photo was kind of dark, so it might not entirely be clear for some. However, Clara also shared a bunch of maternity pics on her IG, with her Fendi sweatsuit styled to show off her growing baby bump.
And, in case there was any more doubt, KJ confirmed the news in the comments, writing, “”she’s pregnant btw.”
“We are ❤️,” Clara responded.
Fans and friends showered the couple with love and congratulations, among them, KJ’s Riverdale co-stars.
Charles Melton left a comment on KJ’s post: ”❤️❤️❤️.”
And Vanessa Morgan excitedly wrote, “Rivers soon to be bestie ♥️,” referring to her four-month old son with Michael Kopech.
On Clara’s IG, Camila Mendes commented, “another neném on the way 👼🏼,” while Madeleine Petsch and Lili Reinhart shared three heart emojis each – Madeleine’s white and Lili’s red.
KJ and Clara first sparked dating speculations in February last year, when he posted a since-deleted photo of himself holding a drink while getting some kisses and cuddles from a woman wearing a baseball cap, which he captioned, ”Coup de foudre ☺️,” which is French for “love at first sight.” Of course, he didn’t tag Clara at the time, but sleuth-y fans soon figured it out.
Clara is a French model, and at 27, she’s four years KJ’s senior. And, based on earlier interviews that KJ did, fans speculate they may have started dating much earlier – earlier told WIRED in December 2019 that he was “very much in love right now” though he didn’t drop any names.
However, after some months of not popping up on each other’s IG feeds, fans began to speculate that their romance may have ended. But, that doesn’t seem to be the case – because when the two went on a vacay in August of last year, KJ shared some nude pics of Clara he’d taken while they were basking in the gorgeous scenery in an undisclosed location.
When Clara’s birthday rolled around (December 7th), KJ posted a sweet mirror selfie of the two of them captioned, “Happy birthday my love ❤️❤️.” And Clara also shared a sweet tribute to her man in January, writing, “This year with you baby was unreal. I love you unconditionally, without control and with all my heart. Fwemos muchos heapsos.”
This is KJ’s and Clara’s first child. So far, the couple haven’t shared how far along Clara is in her pregnancy journey.
