As Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker’s relationship heats up, it looks like it’s putting a strain on her and ex Scott Disick’s relationship.
Long-time friends and neighbors Kourt and Travis recently went from platonic to romantic – and have been putting their love on display on social media for months now. Things are reportedly getting pretty seriously between the two – Travis had Kourt’s name tattooed on his chest and she’s also made her love for him quite permanent, tattooing those three words on his body.
For years, Kourt and ex Scott have had an amicable relationship – they co-parent their three children, Mason, 11, Penelope, 8, and Reign, 6. However, things have reportedly become “tense” between the former couple amidst her hot new romance.
“Scott and Kourtney have a tense relationship right now primarily because he’s been focusing on his new life in Miami and because of Kourtney getting serious with Travis,” an insider tells E! News. “They are barely speaking. It’s hard for him to see Kourtney in love with someone else.”
However, the source notes that they “aren’t fighting by any means” – just that their relationship dynamics have changed. “They haven’t spent much time together as a family,” the source adds.
And it looks like Scott is going out of his way to distance himself from the Kourt-Travis romance.
“Scott will always be in Kourtney’s life, it’s just a different dynamic right now,” the source explains. “Scott wished Kourtney a happy Mother’s Day privately but is really distancing himself. He doesn’t want to interfere with her relationship. They do connect about the kids often but that’s about the extent of it currently.”
Scott has been candid about seeing Kourtney with another guy being hard for him – it’s something he’s admitted to Kourt even before she and Travis started dating.
“I feel like I just don’t like seeing you with another guy. It hurt me when you’re with somebody else and waking up to, like, looking at pictures of you with this guy you were dating,” he told her during an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. “It was just unhealthy and it just made me upset and sad, you know what I mean?”
“The big fear is if you start dating again, then it goes back to that and I have to feel, like, a different way again and it’s just hard,” he added.
Another source says Scott always knew this day would come. But while he’s glad Kourtney is happy, it’s still hard on him.
“It’s uncomfortable for Scott to see Kourtney in a serious relationship, although he knew this day would come,” a second source tells E! News. “He is glad she is happy, but it’s definitely been hard on him. He doesn’t like to bring it up and it’s a weird convo for him. At one point, the family was really encouraging Scott and Kourtney to try the relationship again and it’s a bit of an eye-opener for him, that it’s truly never going to happen.”
