Kristen Stewart made waves at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival—not just for her fashion, but for a bold new tattoo that had everyone talking.

The 35-year-old Twilight alum hit the red carpet on May 16 for the premiere of The Chronology of Water, wearing an all-white Chanel ensemble that was anything but boring. Her fitted jacket, sheer blouse, and tiny black tie were classic Kristen—sharp, androgynous, effortlessly cool. But it was her shorts that revealed the real scene-stealer: a brand-new tattoo inked just above her knee, reading in all-caps, “MINE.”

Naturally, fans and photographers were quick to zoom in. And as it turns out, there’s a very NSFW reason behind the ink—and it’s not just a one-off.

Speaking with Vulture, Kristen explained that she and the rest of the film’s crew plan to get matching “MINE” tattoos, tied directly to a particularly raw, powerful moment in the movie.

“The coolest song in the movie is when she c—s on her hand, smells it, wipes it on her f—— bicep, and goes, ‘I didn’t know a girl body could do that. Shoot c–e.’ And then this song comes on and it goes, ‘Mine, mine, mine, mine.’ And it’s just f—— mine,” Kristen shared.

It’s a wild, visceral moment that captures the fierce, unapologetic energy of The Chronology of Water—a film adaptation of Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir, which Kristen directed.
