Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler have been together for nearly 10 years – they started dating in 2010, got engaged eight months later and tied the knot in 2013. But the couple, who share three children together – 7-year-old son Camden, 5-year-old son Jaxon and 4-year-old daughter Saylor – recently announced that they were going their separate ways.
“With great sadness, after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce,” Kristin wrote on Instagram. “We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of. This is just the situation of two people growing apart. We ask everyone to respect our privacy as we navigate this difficult time within our family.”
Jay also shared the same message on his Instagram, but posted it with a different photo.
The announcement comes after just weeks after they have returned home from a three-week isolation in the Bahamas.
Kristin previously opened up about how her and Jay’s roles have changed since he retired from the NFL after the 2017 season.
“It’s been interesting. We’ve really completely shifted roles, so it’s just been trying to navigate this new normal,” The Hills alum told Entertainment Tonight. “He’s been great. I mean, obviously he’s here with my three kids today and you know, this is not the first thing he wants to be doing so he’s been great and I couldn’t do it without him, truly.”
As for how they had made their relationship work through ups and downs, she said, “I think we make each other laugh. I think that really can take you pretty far, and obviously trust is huge. We definitely have those two things, so that helps.”
Up and downs are part of a marriage and fans even got to see the couple go through some marital problems on Kristin and Jay’s reality show, Very Cavallari.
However, a source tells E! News that there were no allegations of cheating – and that their decision “isn’t out of the blue.”
“They have really tried to make it work for years, but are on different pages about lifestyles and were arguing a lot,” another source told the outlet.
