Kristin Cavallari recently opened up on her Let’s Be Honest podcast about turning down none other than Food Network star Bobby Flay! During the latest episode, the 37-year-old The Hills alum shared the story of a surprising DM she received from Bobby, who was hoping to take her out for dinner while he was in town.
Bobby joined Kristin on the October 29 episode, where he playfully recounted his attempt at asking her out. “I DMed you and I said to you … ‘I’m going to be in Nashville for one night, can I take you to dinner?’” Bobby, 59, remembered. “And you literally said something to me like, ‘I’m already dating somebody.’”
Kristin, however, had her own take on the exchange, explaining, “Or I was like, ‘I’m over dating right now.’ I was burnt out on dating or something.”
Unconvinced, Bobby stuck to his version of the story with a laugh. “No, you said, ‘I’ve already started seeing somebody!’ And I said, ‘I just want to go to dinner with you.’”
Kristin admitted it was a bit of a foot-in-mouth moment, acknowledging that maybe she had jumped to conclusions. “I think the ‘take you to dinner’ thing is more where it was like, ‘Oh, that seems like a date,’” she explained, sharing that her initial assumption was that Bobby had romantic intentions.
Despite the slight awkwardness, the two eventually did meet up for a casual hangout and ended up having “the best time.” It looks like what started as a minor misunderstanding has only added some lighthearted fun to their friendship.
