Liam Hemsworth has sold off his Malibu property, which was ravaged by the Woolsey Fire in 2018.

The former couple were in an on-and-off relationship for over a decade – they started dating after meeting on the set of their movie The Last Song, got engaged in 2012, but split in 2013.

The two later rekindled their romance, and, prior to the fire, lived in Liam’s Malibu home. Following the loss of their home in the devastating fires, they tied the knot in December of 2018. However, just eight months later, they announced their separation. The two have since finalized their divorce, and have moved on to relationships with other people – Miley had previously dated Kaitlynn Carter and Cody Simpson; Liam is now romantically linked to model Gabriella Brooks.

There were reports that Liam was rebuilding the Malibu home, which sits on more than seven acres of property. However, it appears Liam has decided to sell rather than rebuild.

According to a deed filed with Los Angeles County on October 13, Liam has sold the property for $3.6 million in a closed, off-market deal. Apparently, he sold it at a loss, too – he bought the property for almost twice that amount in 2014.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Miley opened up about losing their home to the 2018 Woolsey fires and how her marriage to Liam was a “last attempt to save myself.”

“In a way, it did what I couldn’t do for myself,” Miley said of the fire. “It removed me from what no longer was serving its purpose. And then as you drown, you reach for that lifesaver and you want to save yourself. I think that’s really what, ultimately, getting married was for me. One last attempt to save myself.”

Reflecting on her album, Younger Now, which was released in 2018, she also revealed that things weren’t all that it seemed from the outside.

“A couple of years ago, it looked like I was living some fairy tale. It really wasn’t. At that time, my experimentation with drugs and booze and the circle of people around me was not fulfilling or sustainable or ever going to get me to my fullest potential and purpose.”

As for her breakup ballad, “Slide Away,” which was released after they announced their separation, Miley said she’d actually written it while she and Liam were still together.

“I was still in my relationship, I was still living in my house in Malibu,” she said. “That’s why [I sang], ‘I want my house in the hills.’ I wanted out of there, and it says, ‘I don’t want the whiskey and pills.’ I didn’t want to maintain that lifestyle.”
