Liam Payne is finally speaking out about taking the next step in his relationship with Maya Henry.
Last month, Liam and Maya made headlines with engagement speculations after the 20-year-old model was spotted rocking a huge bling on her ring finger.
According to the Daily Mail, Maya’s engagement ring is reportedly worth £3 Million (about $3.9 Million).
But it wasn’t until recently that Liam confirmed that he and Maya are getting ready to tie the knot.
In a recent (remote) appearance on Good Morning America, during which he performed his collab wit DJ Alesso, “Midnight,” the hosts kicked off the interview by congratulating him on his engagement.
After thanking the hosts, Liam went on to say, “We’re just really happy,” adding, “The last week, I’ve just had a birthday, my son has gone to school for the first time today, so it seems like a lot of firsts for me, really, which is great.”
Liam and Maya were first linked in the summer of 2018. It appears the pair wanted to keep their blossoming romance under wraps at the time though – they only became Instagram official in September 2019. Liam was previously in a relationship with Cheryl Cole, witch whom he shares 3-year-old son Bear.
Later on in the interview, the conversation went came around to One Direction’s 10-year Anniversary, which they celebrated earlier in August, and Liam said, “It feels amazing to be doing 10 years of anything, really, especially to have the success level that we’ve had. I’m just really grateful the fans have stuck around, and we still each of us have a career, which I think has been the most amazing thing out of it, really.”
So, is there a reunion in the works?
“As far as reunions go, I don’t know too much,” Liam responded, segueing to, “but I got wonderful, lovely birthday messages from everyone, which was really really nice!”
But Liam isn’t the only One Direction alum with some big news. His former bandmate, Zayn Malik, is about to become a dad – he’s expecting his first child with girlfriend Gigi Hadid.
Liam had actually congratulated the couple back in May in a video on his YouTube channel.
“Also this week, didn’t really wanna leave it out — wanted to make sure I said something on my own place before I start getting asked about it relentlessly by everybody,” he said at the time. “I just wanted to say congratulations to Zayn and Gigi, obviously, you know, they’re having a baby.”
