The members of One Direction may be forging their own solo directions now, but Liam Payne’s still got Harry Styles’ back.

In a recent interview with Capital FM’s Roman Kemp, Liam was asked about Harry’s cover of Vogue, and the controversy that arose from it.

ICYMI, Harry became the first-ever solo male cover star of Vogue, and he totally made waves by wearing a lace dress in the photo.

The photo in question has gotten a lot of love from fans on social media. But one conservative commentator Candace Owens, criticized him for donning on women’s clothing and demanded for society to “bring back manly men.”

“There is no society that can survive without strong men. The East knows this. In the West, the steady feminization of our men at the same time that Marxism is being taught to our children is not a coincidence. It is an outright attack. Bring back manly men,” she tweeted.

Several celebrities have spoken out against her comments, siding with Harry.

Harry has since seemingly responded to the criticism – posting a photo of him in a baby blue suit, eating a banana, captioned, “Bring back manly men.”

So, what does Liam think of Harry’s clapback?

“Oh, I thought it was great, you know,” Liam said. “I think he’s enjoying himself and he’s free to do as he wishes. There’s been a lot more stuff going on this year than whether or not he’s wearing the right clothes in someone else’s mind.”

“There’s been a lot more stuff going on this year than whether or not he’s wearing the right clothes in someone else’s mind,” he added.

He also recalled how Harry’s always been an individual – and how he’s pretty much still the same old Harry he’s known from their 1D days.

“He’s never really lost himself, even in spite of everything,” Liam shared.

“After the band we didn’t speak for a long time actually,” he said, adding, “And then I remember seeing him – it was actually at a Jingle Bell Ball, backstage – for the first time in a long time. He’s still the same guy he always was when we left each other in that dressing room as the band kind of stopped for a little bit.”
