Lil Nas X is currently recovering in hospital after experiencing a scary and unexpected health issue—he lost control of the right side of his face.

The 26-year-old rapper, known for his bold personality and genre-bending music, shared a candid update straight from his hospital bed. In a short video posted to his Instagram Stories, he showed fans that he couldn’t move half his face, specifically the right side.

“When I smile, this is me doing a full smile right now by the way… it’s like, what the f–k. I can’t even laugh right, bro. What the f–k! Oh my god. So… oh my god, bro. So… yeah,” he said in the clip, visibly baffled and concerned.

Naturally, fans were quick to share their concern, with some even speculating about the cause. Actress Holly Robinson Peete joined the conversation, commenting, “Is it Bell’s palsy? If so, that’s not funny. 😢 I hope you get better soon. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽.”

Bell’s palsy is a temporary condition that causes weakness or paralysis in the muscles on one side of the face. According to the Mayo Clinic, “Bell’s palsy is a condition that causes sudden weakness in the muscles on one side of the face. Often the weakness is short-term and improves over weeks. The weakness makes half of the face appear to droop. Smiles are one-sided, and the eye on the affected side is hard to close.”

Although Lil Nas X didn’t officially confirm a diagnosis, many fans and commenters assumed this might be what he’s dealing with. Regardless, the “Montero” singer made it clear that he’s in good spirits and not letting the situation bring him down.

Later that same day, he took to his Instagram Stories again to reassure everyone: “Guys I am ok!! Stop being sad for me! Shake ur ass for me instead!” he wrote, adding a bit of trademark cheekiness. “Imma look funny for a lil bit but that’s it.”

The comment section of his post quickly filled up with love and support from fellow celebrities. Taraji P. Henson wrote, “Get well baby 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾,” while Ledisi chimed in with, “Get well soon! 🙏🏾”

Lil Nas X has never been one to shy away from vulnerability online, often sharing his highs and lows with fans in real-time. His openness continues to be one of the many reasons his fanbase remains so loyal.

While it’s not yet clear when he’ll be back to full health, fans are hoping for a speedy recovery—and perhaps a triumphant TikTok comeback featuring his “funny face” when he’s ready to laugh about it.
