Lindsay Lohan is embracing a new chapter—one that includes mom life, movie comebacks, and a seriously dedicated skincare routine. The 38-year-old star of the upcoming Freaky Friday sequel—Freakier Friday—graces the cover of Elle’s Summer 2025 issue and sits down with Chloe Fineman for a refreshingly honest chat.
Let’s start with what fans are most excited about: Freakier Friday. Lindsay says coming back to the beloved Disney film feels both surreal and incredibly special. “I’m excited. It feels surreal. I’ve never thought I would do a movie where there would be a sequel… And then when you get to do it, and bring a character that you knew so well back to life, in a sense, it’s exciting.”
She adds, “It’s easygoing. I feel like everything felt at ease when we were making it… [Freakier Friday] is a feel-good movie, which is what I want to give people. And it’s fun. When I saw the second cut, I wanted to get up and dance at the end.”
And yes, she sings again—but this time, in character. “It was good. Well, it was kind of nerve-racking at first, because I’m not singing as me… In this movie, I was singing it as [my character] Anna, whereas before felt more like Lindsay singing.”
As for her return to acting, she credits Netflix—and a little manifestation. “During COVID, I was like, ‘I want to work with Netflix.’ I kept writing it in my journal and saying it… I manifested that, and I’m manifesting this movie now.”
Lindsay is also juggling her career with life as a new mom, and she’s leaned on a certain Hollywood icon for guidance. “We’re both very family-oriented people… and one of the other big things [Jamie Lee Curtis has taught me] is to always take care of yourself first.”
Her daily routine is all about balance and simplicity. “Waking up, writing in my journal, sipping my green tea, breakfast with my son. And then Pilates, making sure I go…” She admits L.A. stresses her out, but Dubai? That’s where she finds peace. “In Dubai I get all of those things. I get the privacy, I get the peace, I get the space.”
And yes, she’s thinking about expanding her family. “I mean, it’s the most important thing—my husband, my son, and me… But also, once you have one kid, you’re like, ‘Oh, my kid needs a kid to play with.’”
When it comes to roles she’s chasing now, she’s diving into new territory with Count My Lies, a more dramatic project. “I was talking to the writers and showrunners yesterday and told them, ‘I don’t know if you realize, but this is the first time where I don’t have to have a romantic interest…’”
Looking ahead, she’s got her eye on dark comedies and dream collaborators. “I would love to find a dark comedy like Mean Girls… Maybe Quentin Tarantino. Also, I’d love to work with Julianne Moore… Maybe now I’d be her younger sister.”
Off-camera, Lindsay is developing a beauty line—something close to her heart. “It’s taking a long time because I’m very specific, because I’m crazy about my skin and health.” She’s refreshingly open about Botox (“Everyone does Botox”) and shares a peek into her morning beauty rituals, including her obsession with green tea, pickled beets, lemon juice, and “tons of chia seeds.”
She’s tried treatments like Morpheus8, but admits, “My skin changed after having my son. It got really sensitive… I did blood tests, and I was like, ‘I want to know everything I’m allergic to.’”
Lindsay’s journey is one of evolution—personal, professional, and yes, skincare-related. And as she steps into this next chapter, it’s clear she’s doing it on her own terms: grounded, glowing, and in full control.
