Lisa, the 27-year-old Thai superstar best known as a member of the global phenomenon BLACKPINK, is stepping confidently into a solo chapter. This year has been a whirlwind for Lisa, filled with personal milestones, including releasing solo music and landing an acting role in the upcoming season of The White Lotus.

Speaking with Billboard, Lisa admitted that branching out on her own wasn’t easy at first.

“At first, I was scared and nervous because I never really come out here to do my own stuff,” she shared. “And now I’m having fun.”

Despite initial jitters, Lisa credits her fans for helping her find her footing as a solo artist. Their enthusiastic support has been a source of motivation and validation.

“When [my singles] came out, the reaction from the fans, it’s healing me,” she said. “It’s like, ‘Oh, my God. Yeah — I did a great job!’”

As she ventures into solo music, Lisa is taking the opportunity to showcase different sides of her artistry. While she’s known as a rapper in BLACKPINK, her solo work allows her to expand her creative range.

“I’m not like, ‘OK, I’m going to sit down and write the whole thing,’” Lisa explained. “In BLACKPINK, I’m a rapper, so I always rap, but now it’s a chance for me to show the world that I’m capable of [so much more].”

Her solo image also reflects her evolution, offering a more mature and edgy vibe.

“It’s a little looser [now],” she said. “We’re not rookies anymore. I’m 27 and headed toward 30. Of course I’m still young, yes, but I feel like it’s more flexible for us. And it’s nothing crazy… I feel like I’m just doing whatever I want, and it doesn’t hurt anyone. As long as it doesn’t hurt anyone’s feelings.”

While Lisa explores her individual path, she emphasises the unwavering support she and her BLACKPINK bandmates have for each other.

“We know each other so well and know how much energy we have to put into every single project,” Lisa said. “So we want to support and say, ‘You did really well!’ Like, Jennie and Rosie just released their own songs, and we’re on texts, we’re on FaceTime. They’re like family. I’m just so happy that they’re releasing something. This is what we all wanted to do, so I just wanted to say that I really do love their songs.”

For fans wondering what’s next for BLACKPINK, Lisa reassured them that the group remains a central part of their lives.

“Of course we want to do more, because BLACKPINK, it’s part of our lives,” she said. “We still want to accomplish more, but on the other side, we also wanted to do something for our solo careers.”

With BLACKPINK’s reunion planned for 2025 and her solo career flourishing, Lisa is proving that she’s unstoppable in whatever path she chooses. As she continues to break boundaries, both as a group member and an individual artist, one thing is clear: Lisa is here to shine on her own terms.
