On Monday (March 11), Luke Perry was laid to rest in the town of Dickson, Tennessee.
The Beverly Hills 90210 and Riverdale star passed away last Monday (March 4), after suffering a massive stroke last Wednesday (February 27).
A statement from his rep confirmed his death on the same day. “Actor Luke Perry, 52, passed away today after suffering a massive stroke,” the statement read. “He was surrounded by his children Jack and Sophie, fiancée Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends. The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning.”
Stars and fans alike have shared touching heartfelt tributes about the beloved actor, and there’s been an outpouring of love and support for the Perry family.
Luke’s daughter, Sophie Perry, was in Africa when the stroke happened and she rushed home to be by her family’s side. On Tuesday (March 5), she shared a photo of her and her dad, with a message for all the people who have shown their family love and support.
“A lot has happened in this past week for me,” she captioned her Instagram. “Everything is happening so fast. I made it back from Malawi just in time to be here with my family, And in the past 24 hours I have received an overwhelming amount of love and support.”
“I cannot individually respond to the hundreds of beautiful and heartfelt messages, but I see them, and appreciate you all for sending positivity to my family and I,” she continued. “I’m not really sure what to say or do in this situation, it’s something you aren’t ever given a lesson on how to handle, especially when it’s all happening in the public eye. So [bear] with me and know that I am grateful for all the love. Just, being grateful quietly.”
His son Jack shared a photo of his dad cheering him on in one of his matches and a childhood photo of him in his dad’s arms on Instagram.
“He was a lot of things to a lot of people. To me, he was always Dad,” he wrote in the caption. “He loved and supported me in everything, and inspired me to be the best that I could possibly be. I’ve learned so much from you, and my heart is broken thinking about everything you won’t be here for.
I’ll miss you every day that I walk this earth. I’ll do whatever I can to carry on your legacy and make you proud. I love you Dad.”
On Saturday (March 9), his fiancée Wendy Madison Bauer, spoke out on his untimely death.
“I want to express my gratitude to everyone for the outpouring of love and support,” Wendy said in a statement to ET. “The countless, heartwarming stories of Luke’s generosity and kindness have been a great source of solace during this difficult time.”
“The past 11½ years with Luke were the happiest years of my life, and I am grateful to have had that time with him,” she added. “I also want to thank his children, family, and friends for their love and support. We have found comfort in one another and in the knowledge that our lives were touched by an extraordinary man. He will be dearly missed.”
His remains have been transported to Dickson, Tennessee, the town where Luke also owned a farm and lived in part-time.
