Margot Robbie and John Cena are starring together on The Suicide Squad, but, apparently, their history goes way beyond that – and comes with a pretty unexpected twist.
The two recently appeared together on a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, which was guest hosted by Anthony Anderson, where Margot revealed that she used to sleep in a room with a life-sized cardboard cut-out of John Cena for years.
Sharing the story of how that whole unusual situation came to be, she began, “I watched WWE when I was growing up. When I was a kid, I loved The Undertaker. Then obviously when I was a teenager, I stopped watching.”
“But then, as a late teen, early 20s, I had a boyfriend who was obsessed with John Cena. So much so that he dressed as John Cena for his 21st birthday and had a cardboard cut-out in his bedroom,” she continued, adding, “So I slept in a room for two years with a life-size cardboard cut-out of John Cena in the room.”
And, apparently, waking up to it in the middle of the night can sometimes be pretty scary. “And then I’d be like, ‘Oh, it’s just John Cena, it’s OK,'” she quipped.
She also revealed that she even had an internal debated about sharing that story with John himself if she ever got the chance to work with him – but ended up spilling the story “five seconds into meeting him.”
And to “level the playing field,” John was hilariously presented with a life-sized cardboard cutout of Margot as Harley Quinn, which kinda rendered him speechless in the funniest way.
“You also have to sleep with that in your room for two years,” the actress joked.
