Mariah Carey just gave fans something to talk about—her upcoming album. While celebrating ten years of Apple Music, the music icon joined Ciara, Chance the Rapper, and others for a global radio broadcast and shared a few tantalizing details about her next musical chapter.

“Definitely when the album is released, there’s a lot of who I am today, and the last 10 years, the last 14 years [in it]—It’s an interesting situation when you have kids, and it’s a whole ‘nother paint job. It’s a whole different thing,” Mariah shared, reflecting on how motherhood has influenced her songwriting.

Though she’s keeping much of the album under wraps for now, she offered a little tease. “I’m trying not to tell too much about the new album. ‘It’s a special occasion’—Mimi’s Emancipation.’ It’s a lyric from one of my songs,” she said. “What is next? The album coming out. I don’t wanna tell too much about it because I just don’t want to reveal the whole thing. It’s finished.”

So what can fans expect? “11 songs, or 12,” she revealed, with the assurance that “we got some Mariah ballads.”

And if you loved “Type Dangerous,” there’s more where that came from. “A second single is coming soon. I’m very excited about it. It’s very summer-y. I like the beat as well,” she teased.

Mariah hasn’t confirmed a release date yet, but if her excitement is anything to go by, it sounds like her latest project is going to be worth the wait.
