Mary-Kate Olsen has filed an emergency petition to get divorced from her husband of five years, Pierre Olivier Sarkozy.
According to TMZ, the Elizabeth & James co-founder tried to file for divorce on April 17 – she already signed a petition and everything. But with the coronavirus pandemic going on, the courts in New York were not accepting divorce filings – unless it’s an emergency.
Mary-Kate and Olivier began dating in 2012 and tied the knot in 2015. They’ve mostly kept their romance out of the spotlight, but have been spotted out and about attending event on several occasions throughout the years.
They have yet to publicly address their breakup but sources say the breakup has been “brutal” – the divorce has become “heated” and Mary-Kate is “done with constant drama.”
“It’s gotten very ugly between them,” a source tells E!.
Mary-Kate reportedly claims that Olivier had his lawyers email her lawyers that she has until May 18 to move out of their NYC apartment and terminated their lease without her knowing. According to court documents, she can’t make the deadline because of the quarantine, and is trying to protect her property by filing for divorce to prevent him from getting rid of it. She also reportedly asked for her prenup to be enforced.
Mary-Kate and her twin sister Ashley rose to fame as child stars and later switched careers to become fashion designers, founding the fashion brands The Row and Elizabeth & James. Together, the sisters have a whopping net worth of $500 million.
But a source tells Us Weekly that the prenup is ironclad. “Her business interests and fortune are protected,” the source says.

Sparking some joy amid the coronavirus is the happy news that some of our fave are stars expecting a little bundle of joy in the coming months – but Khloe Kardashian wants fans to know she’s not one of them.
Sepculations that Khloe is expecting baby no. 2 appears to have stemmed from Khloe opening up in an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians about seriously considering ex-boyfriend Tristan Thompson to be a sperm donor in case she wants another baby. She and Tristan already share two-year-old daughter True, and have talked about True having a sibling.
“He has to sign, like, legal paperwork that he would just be my sperm donor,” Khloe said. “But you never know. What if, in three years, I get married to someone and I’m like, ‘You know what, I don’t want that.'”
“Right now, Tristan and I are in this strange transitional period where we’re figuring out boundaries, and it’s just not the right time,” she added. “But who knows? Maybe that could change one day.”
The episode was shot before the coronavirus quarantine. With the pandemic going on and the NBA season cancelled, Tristan has been self-isolating with Khloe and their daughter, which sparked rumors that they’re back together.
Then, some fans started pointing out how Khloe’s selfies have been cropped to not show her mid-section. Other fans have also noted that she was posting a lot of pink on her social media. And, on Mother’s Day, Tristan surprised her with a massive pink balloon arrangement that says “Mom,” which some took to be a gender reveal.
Well, Khloe is shutting that rumor down. The reality star went on Twitter to address the speculations.
“I don’t go on social platforms much these days AND this is one of the main reasons as to why I stay away,” she wrote. “The sick and hurtful things people say. I am disgusted by so many things I am seeing. SMH people swear they know everything about me. Including my uterus. Sick.”
“The nasty things you’re saying about me over A RUMOR!” she added. “I have seen so many hurtful/despicable stories and tweets about me over a false story. And if it were true…. it’s MY LIFE, NOT YOURS.”
“Funny how picky&choosy some can be with who and how you feel others should live their lives. I believe people should focus on their own lives/families, put energy into bettering the scary world we are currently living in, and try projecting positivity as opposed to nastiness,” Khloe concluded.
