Matty Healy is looking back on some os his controversial moments.
Over the weekend, The 1975 frontman to the stage in London, England. During the band’s show, he took time to own up to mistakes he made in the past.
While Matty did not get specific regarding what he was pertaining to, his comments on stage come after getting negative press for insensitive jokes that he made about Ice Spice, as well as other instances.
He did not apologize directly for any one moment in particular, but in his speech during the performance, he seemed to have taken accountability for past actions.
Outlets reported that in a spiel about the band’s track “Love Me,” Matty shared that he was “taking a p*ss out of myself.” He went on to say:
“I was always, like, trying stuff. And some stuff I got right and some stuff I got wrong.
But, do you know what? There’s a lot of things I’ve said, jokes that I’ve made, you know what, there’s probably a couple of f-cking songs I’d take back if I had the chance.”
He added:
“What I mean is that I really am only doing this because I want to make you guys laugh and feel good. That’s what my favorite art does and that’s what I’m trying to do. I get a bit excited.
And, you know what, I’m f*cking proud of myself.”
