Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have shared some joyous news: they’re pregnant again and Archie is about to become a big brother!

On Sunday (February 14), a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced the happy news in a statement: “We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child.”

The announcement came with black and white photo of Harry and Meghan look lovingly at each other – she’s resting her head on his lap, with one hand on her baby bump.

Their friend and longtime photographer, Misan Harriman, took the pregnancy announcement photo with an iPad camera. He also went on Twitter to reflect on capturing the loving moment: “Meg, I was there at your wedding to witness this love story begin, and my friend, I am honoured to capture it grow. Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on this joyous news!”

The royal family has also expressed their excitement at the news. “Her Majesty, [the] Duke of Edinburgh, [the] Prince of Wales and the entire family [are] delighted and wish them well,” a spokesperson from Buckingham Palace said.

Meghan and Harry are already parents to Archie Harrison, who will turn two on May 6. But the couple have always wanted their son to have a little brother or sister. Harry has actually previously shared how many children he and Meghan plan to have – “Two, maximum!” he told Jane Goodall in July 2019.

The baby news comes months after Meghan revealed that she suffered a miscarriage last summer.

“I lay in a hospital bed, holding my husband’s hand,” she recalled in her op-ed for The New York Times in last November. “I felt the clamminess of his palm and kissed his knuckles, wet from both our tears. Staring at the cold white walls, my eyes glazed over. I tried to imagine how we’d heal.”

Meghan also shared that she was prompted to speak out in an effort to encourage others to do the same after she and Harry learned how common miscarriages are.

“Losing a child means carrying an almost unbearable grief, experienced by many but talked about by few,” she wrote. “In the pain of our loss, my husband and I discovered that in a room of 100 women, 10 to 20 of them will have suffered from miscarriage. Yet despite the staggering commonality of this pain, the conversation remains taboo, riddled with (unwarranted) shame, and perpetuating a cycle of solitary mourning.”

The date of the pregnancy announcement, Valentine’s Day, also carries an extra special significance for the couple – the official announcement that Harry’s late mom, Princess Diana, was pregnant with him hit the headlines on February 14, 1984.

And there’s a rumor that the couple’s little bundle of joy will be arriving earth side pretty soon.

A source told Us Weekly, “It’s a dream come true….Meghan fell pregnant again toward the end of last year. The baby is due at the end of spring.”

Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex!
