Melissa Joan Hart is aware that there had been rumors of a feud between her and Lena Dunham — and she is shutting all that down.
Rumors have been making the rounds on social media that the 46-year-old actress and director had beef with the Catherine Call Birdy director. This talk was based off of a rumor submitted to gossip account DeuxMoi.
However, Melissa has come out to publicly state that this is not the case at all. She posted a screenshot on her social media of the feud as posted on DeuxMoi, in which it was suggested that she “has it out for Lena Dunham” and that they know each other because “Lena’s dad was friends with the creator of Clarissa Explains It All” and that there was a fight between Melissa and Lena about “child drag queens.”
Melissa wrote alongside the screenshot:
“So I don’t normally pay any attention to the tabloid rumor mill but numerous friends have asked me about my ‘rivalry’ with @lenadunham and I’m truly confused.
We have no ‘beef’, and as far as I remember we haven’t even had the pleasure of meeting let alone having enough of a relationship to warrant any time to discuss drag queens.”
She warned fans not to get click-baited by “flashy links as they pretend to give you hot gossip that doesn’t exist,” adding:
“I’m a fan of Lena’s work and all that she does to support females in our industry and hope to share a latte someday.
Please be careful not to get caught up in the hateful rhetoric of these sites that promote division and spew crap to make a profit. #mytedtalk.”
