Have Miley Cyrus and UFC fighter Julian Marquez high-key started a new ship among fans – or did Julian push his luck too far?
On Saturday (Feburary 13) night, Julian scored an impressive win over Maki Pitolo during their thrilling middleweight bout in Las Vegas.
And when the Julian got his mic time, he used his time in the spotlight for a pretty unconventional victory message – he asked Miley to be his Valentine.
“I’ve been waiting 31 months to get on this damned mic, and to call these people out right now,” the 30-year-old MMA fighter announced, “this is my time to shine.”
“So: Miley Cyrus — will you be my Valentine’s? Let’s go,” he said.
He even went on to gush about all the things Miley – and why he’s so into her.
“The real question is: what’s not to be interested in?” he said during the post-fight press conference, when he was asked what about Miley interested him. “I’m 30 years old, grew up watching Hannah Montana, Party in the USA, we’re sitting here loving it.”
“I’ve been to her concert many times,” he continued. He also shared they he’s walked out to fights to “Wrecking Ball.”
“I made a big come up after that song,” he said. “Every time I walk out to Miley she does something to me to figure out a way to win. She’s just… my love. I love that woman.”
Talk about big gestures!
When the ESPN MMA Twitter account shared the clip of Julian asking Miley out on Twitter, Miley gave her response, tweeting, “Shave an MC into your chest hair and I am YOURS [red heart emoji] Happy VDay and Congrats my love!”
But as their challenge-filled exchange on social media continued, it’s looking more and more like the potential pairing may have ended before it even began.
When Julian saw her reply, he dared her right back, saying she should get his fighting nickname as a temporary tattoo.
“@MileyCyrus If you get a henna tattoo that says Cuban Missle Crisis above your belly button like 2pac I’m in #ThugLife 😏,” he tweeted and even included a mock-up photo of the tattoo he asked for.
And Twitter users legit had a facepalm moment over his response.
“Didn’t you see the trend of Miley commenting on Tiktok??” one person wrote. “She’s the one who get to request and you have to obey, Just obey henny.”
“Bro she answered you and you really have the AUDACITY TO ASK HER FOR ANOTHER FAVOUR CMON MAN YOU FUMBLED THE BAG,” another replied to his tweet.
“Yeah he sold low key. Only thing he should have replied with was a shaved chest with the initials and some roses in the mouth,” yet another Twitter user chimed in.
Fans also believe Miley’s recent post is a subtle reply to the MMA fighter’s message – and many are convinced that Julian may have pushed his luck too far.
“This could be yours but you dumb,” Miley wrote on a full body mirror selfie on her Instagram Story.
So, is this a romance bloom or bust?
