Mindy Kaling and BJ Novak have an incredible, long-lasting friendship. The two even dated one point, and remain super close and affectionate with each other to this day. It’s no wonder that many continue to ship them and wish they would rekindle their romance.
Well, Mindy’s now setting the record straight about her relationship with BJ!
In a recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show on Tuesday (December 6), Drew told Mindy:
“I was on a date once and BJ Novak sat down and I remember thinking, ‘Oh I wish I was on a date with him. He’s so attractive.
Why is he not with Mindy Kaling? I wanna be with Mindy Kaling. Why are they not together?”
Mindy gamely replied to what Drew said, exclaiming:
“Wait, wait, your first reaction was, ‘Wow he’s so attractive?’ He’s gonna be so excited about that!”
She then went on to speak about their relationship, calling him a “wonderful friend.” She added:
“He loves children and they’re so attached to him. He’s really part of our family.”
Mindy answered the age-old question of why they are not together now, saying:
“We’ve known each other for a long, long time and I think anyone who’s been friends with someone for 18, 19 years and at one point dated and now doesn’t, then maybe understand this.
You have exes that you wouldn’t necessarily marry now.”
