Ne-Yo is not sorry after all.

The 43-year-old musician has taken back his apology for comments he made about gender identity.

Over the weekend, he made headlines after voicing his opinion about parents who allowed their kids to identify as another gender before they were deemed mature enough to do so.

Following his initial statement, which earned a lot of backlash, he seemingly issued an apology for his controversial comments.

But now, Ne-Yp is once again speaking out, this time to declare that his “apology” was not made willingly.

Taking to Instagram, he posted a video in which he said he wanted to clarify any misconceptions about what was going on, saying that this new statement was “from the horse’s mouth, not the publicist’s computer. He stated:

“I was asked a question, and I answered the d*mn question. I have no beef with the LGBTQIA+ community whatsoever.”

He said that parents can “do what you want to do with your kids,” before adding:

“However, somebody asked my opinion on this matter, and this is how I feel. I will never be okay with allowing a child to make a decision that is detrimental to their life.”

Along with the video, he wrote in the caption:

“[If] one of my 7 kids were to decide that he or she wanted to be something other than what they were born as, once they’re old enough and mature enough to make that decision.. so be it. Not gonna love em any less…

But this isn’t even a discussion until they are mentally mature enough to have such a discussion.”
