Neve Campbell will not be in Scream 6.
The actress, who originated the role of Sydney Prescott and has been a central character from Scream 1 through 5 and remains a huge fan favorite, has revealed that she will not be appearing in the upcoming sixth installment of the franchise.
In a statement to Deadline, Neve said:
“Sadly I won’t be making the next Scream film.”
She went on to reveal the reason why Sydney will be missing from Scream 6:
“As a woman I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream. I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise.”
She expressed her love and gratitude to all the loyal fans:
“It’s been a very difficult decision to move on. To all my Scream fans, I love you.
You’ve always been so incredible supportive to me. I’m forever grateful to you and to what this franchise has given me over the past 25 years.”
Scream 5 earned $140 million at the box office worldwide. Scream 6 is due in theaters on March 31, 2023.
