Aaron Carter’s family and friends are paying tribute to Aaron Carter following his tragic death.
His brother, Nick Carter, shared a message one day after Aaron’s passing. Read his heartbreaking post here:
“My heart has been broken today.
Even though my brother and I have had a complicated relationship, my love for him has never ever faded.
I have always held onto the hope, that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed. Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss.
But the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here. I will miss my brother more than anyone will ever know. I love you Chizz., now you get a chance to finally have some peace you could never find here on earth….God, Please take care of my baby brother.”
The Backstreet Boys paid tribute to Aaron onstage at their show at the O2 Arena in London on Sunday. After singing “No Place” at the concert, a montage of photos were shown on the screens. Nick was seen shedding tears as bandmate Kevin Richardson said:
“That song is very special to us because that song is about family. Everybody in here, we all grew up together. We’ve been through highs and lows, ups and downs. You guys have been through it with us; we’ve been through it with you. We thank you for taking us on that journey with you. We thank you for being a part of the Backstreet family for 29 years. We thank you for all the love for all the years.”
Just before he touched on Aaron’s death, Nick began to break down. His three other bandmates, AJ McLean, Brian Littrell, and Howie Dorough, wrapped him up in a hug, and Kevin went on to say:
“Tonight we’ve got heavy hearts because we lost one of our family members yesterday, and we just wanted to find a moment in our show to recognize him. Nick’s little brother, Aaron Carter passed away yesterday at [34] years old. He’s a part of our family. We thank you guys for all the love and the well wishes and all your support.
We’d like to dedicate this song to our little brother, Aaron Carter. … May he rest in heaven.”
Hilary Duff, who dated Aaron when they were both teen stars, wrote on social media:
“For Aaron. I’m deeply sorry that life was so hard for you and that you had to struggle in-front of the whole world. You had a charm that was absolutely effervescent.
Boy did my teenage self love you deeply. Sending love to your family at this time. Rest easy.”
Lindsay Lohan, who also dated Aaron when they were teens, said to ET:
“My heart goes out to his family and may he rest in peace. And God bless him… and yeah, just [a] lot of love there.”
Aaron’s fiance Melanie Martin, who were on and off for years and share Prince, said in a statement:
“We are still in the process of accepting this unfortunate reality. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.”
She also shared a video where she could be seen crying in her car, seemingly after she found out what happened to Aaron.
