Nick Carter is taking legal action.
The 43-year-old Backstreet Boys singer has filed a countersuit against Shannon Ruth, the woman who accused him for sexual assault. Shannon sued him for sexual assault in December 2022.
Nick is also suing Melissa Schuman, the former singer of the girl group Dream whoa accused him of rape back in 2017.
The countersuit states that the two women had taken advantage of the #MeToo movement, using it to launch a five-year conspiracy to “defame and vilify Carter and otherwise ruin his reputation for the purposes of garnering attention and fame and/or extorting money from Carter.”
Nick is also said to describe the two women as “opportunists” He said they see out to “destroy innocent lives” and have caused him over $2.3M in business losses after the accusations dropped in December.
Back in December last year, Shannon sued Nick for an alleged encounter that she said happened in 2001. In her lawsuit, Shannon claimed that Nick took her onto the tour bus, plied her with alcohol, and then proceeded to sexually assault her. This took place after a concert, and she was 17 at the time while Nick was 21.
In 2017, Melissa publicly accused Nick of raping her when she was 18 and a virgin. The encounter, she said, took place in 2002.
