Earlier this week, multiple reports came out that Nick Jonas was rushed to the hospital after getting into an accident over the weekend. He’d been filming a super secret project on Saturday (May 15) when it happened – and, according to TMZ, “it was serious enough that he was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.”
He was reportedly released after an overnight stay in the hospital and was back home by Sunday (May 16). By Monday (May 17), he joined fellow coached Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend in the live show of The Voice, where he revealed what had happened.
Host Carson Daly kicked off the show by asking how he was, to which he replied, “I’m feeling okay. I’ve been better, but I’m doing alright.”
He went on to share the extent of his injuries. “[I have] a cracked rib from a spill on a bike and a few other bumps and bruises,” he revealed, adding, “I just wanted to go ahead and say that in case I’m not as physically enthusiastic as I usually am.”
He also jokingly asked Blake “not make me laugh too much because it hurts to laugh.”
The two started to banter, with Blake kidding Nick, “You’re just trying to get sympathy votes on this show.”
Nick hilariously agreed, saying it was all part of a “big elaborate plan.”
It’s not exactly clear what Nick’s super secret project was. In the earlier reports, sources kept mum about the name of the project they were filming. However, the Jonas Brothers recently made an announcement that’s sparking speculation that it may somehow be connected to Nick’s recent injury.
Nick, Joe and Kevin, a.k.a. the Jonas Brothers went on Instagram to drop the news that they’ll be starring in a TV Special called Olympic Dreams.
Sharing a photo of the three of them in matching sweats, they wrote, “You’re not going to want to miss this 😎 Join us as we live out our ‘Olympic Dreams’ Wednesday, July 21st at 8/7c on @NBC!!”
NBC also announced the project, captioned, “The Olympic torch is Burnin’ Up because they’re going for the gold! 🔥 ‘Olympic Dreams Featuring @jonasbrothers’”
Here’s the synopsis of the special, per Deadline: “For the three Jonas brothers raised in Wycoff, NJ, becoming Olympians was a dream established at an early age. And it was only sidelined by another lofty goal: pop stardom. Now, after more than a decade as one of music’s biggest acts, the Jonas boys are ready to prove they have what it takes to compete at an Olympic level.”
The brothers are going to get some training from Team USA’s best athletes and will compete against each other.
Looks like sibling rivalry is about to hit next level!
