Nick Jonas experienced a tense moment during the Jonas Brothers concert in Prague, Czech Republic, on Tuesday evening (October 15). The 32-year-old singer was forced to rush off the stage after a laser pointer appeared to target his face.
While performing at the O2 Arena Praha, Nick was seen making a “time-out” gesture with his hands before abruptly exiting the stage. A video circulating online shows a laser pointer seemingly aimed at his head, prompting immediate concern.
The venue, O2 Arena, confirmed that a laser pointer was indeed involved. A spokesperson for the arena told Variety, “We can confirm that the Jonas Brothers’ performance had to be interrupted for several minutes due to the use of a prohibited laser pointer by a person in the crowd. The organizing service responded to this situation, and after a few minutes, the band continued their performance.”
Thankfully, the interruption only lasted a few minutes, and Nick was able to return to the stage to continue the show without further issues. However, incidents like this are becoming an unfortunate trend for performers.
In recent months, multiple artists have been targeted during live shows, often with dangerous consequences. Kelsea Ballerini had an object thrown at her while performing. Bebe Rexha needed stitches after being hit in the face by a phone thrown from the audience. Ava Max was struck by a concert-goer who jumped on stage, and even Pink faced an unexpected moment when a fan threw their mother’s ashes on stage during her concert.
This growing issue has sparked concerns over the safety of performers while they are on stage. Objects being thrown or other disruptive actions can not only ruin the concert experience for everyone but also pose serious risks to the artists themselves.
Despite the scare, Nick and his brothers were able to finish their concert in Prague, and the fans were treated to the rest of the Jonas Brothers’ set. Concert safety is a growing concern for artists and venues, as these incidents continue to escalate in frequency and severity.
Nick Jonas and the Jonas Brothers have yet to comment on the incident, but it’s clear that both fans and performers are becoming more aware of these risks. Here’s hoping that better measures will be put in place to ensure everyone’s safety moving forward.
