Nicki Minaj’s recent post about her son has gotten fans talking.
The 40-year-old “Superbass” rapper took to social media to share an anecdote about her son. In the anecdote, which she posted on her Instagram Story, Nicki told the story of what happened with her child, whom she refers to as Papa Bear, and a mango.
She began the story by writing:
“Papa Bear took my last mango & began throwing it through the basketball hoop, bouncing it around all over the floor… Running when I started chasing him to get it.”
Nicki continued:
“Finally it ripped open so I peeled it & said here papa, eat a piece of the mango, it’s good.
He looked at me with complete disgust on his face & ran SOOO FAST! Smh.”
She ended her post by talking about “American kids,” declaring:
“These American kids will never know what we had to go through climbing trees to get the best tasting fruit that God ever gave this world. Wow.”
Nicki’s post drew a lot of reactions online, with people wondering what she could have meant and if the mango was a metaphor for anything. Others also wondered why she wrote about “these American kids” as if she were not talking about her own.
Soon after, Nicki took to Twitter to post what seemed to be a reaction to the backlash she received:
“I love how obsessed & bothered you are.
I love the recreations with the faux funny corny corn ball twists to them.
I love knowing I’m the best.
I love the whole world.
I hate what you finna make me do. But it has to be done.”
She concluded by quoting her hit track “Superbass”:
“I love the boys with the booming system. Top down AC wida cooling system.”
