It’s time to set the record straight on the Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift friendship saga that’s been circulating for years. Are they feuding? Are they still friends? Well, Olivia Rodrigo has finally spoken out on the matter in a recent Rolling Stone interview, and she’s putting the rumors to rest.

Let’s rewind a bit to get the full picture. Olivia Rodrigo, the 20-year-old sensation behind hits like “Guts,” and Taylor Swift, the 33-year-old superstar known for albums like “Midnights,” initially had a very supportive dynamic. They publicly cheered each other on in the past. But things seemed to hit a bump in the road when Olivia credited Taylor with writing on some songs from her debut album, “Sour.”

So, the big question: Is there a feud between Olivia and Taylor? Olivia’s response is as clear as day:

“I don’t have beef with anyone. I’m very chill. I keep to myself. I have my four friends and my mom, and that’s really the only people I talk to, ever.”

She goes on to highlight the absurdity of the situation by mentioning the plethora of Twitter conspiracy theories, humorously noting that she prefers to explore alien-conspiracy theories. Quite the pivot, right? She said:

“There’s nothing to say. There’s so many Twitter conspiracy theories. I only look at alien-conspiracy theories.”

But what about those Sour writing credits? Olivia candidly admits that she was caught a bit off guard by the situation. She describes herself at the time as “green and bright-eyed and bushy-tailed,” and it appears she wasn’t deeply involved in the decision. It seems to have been more of a team-to-team arrangement. Olivia modestly defers from being the go-to source on that topic. She stated:

“I was a little caught off guard. At the time it was very confusing, and I was green and bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. Is that the phrase?” she said. “It’s not something that I was super involved in. It was more team-on-team. So, I wouldn’t be the best person to ask.”

When probed further about whether she’d consider requesting writing credits from another artist in the future due to song similarities, similar to what happened between her and Taylor, Olivia maintains her down-to-earth stance. She says:

“I don’t think I would ever personally do that. But who’s to say where I’ll be in 20, 30 years. All that I can do is write my songs and focus on what I can control.”

Olivia Rodrigo’s response to the Taylor Swift feud rumors is a testament to her chill and pragmatic personality. She’s not one to hold grudges or seek unnecessary drama. Instead, she’s focused on her music and her circle of friends and family. As for the past speculation and theories, Olivia’s got more exciting interests to explore, like those alien-conspiracy theories. And who knows what the future holds? For now, she’s all about what she can create and control in her own music journey.
