Jason David Frank has passed away. He was 49.
The actor played Tommy Oliver in the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series in the early ‘90s. His rep Justine Hardy confirmed the sad news of his passing:
“Unfortunately, it is true.
Please respect the privacy of his family and friends during this horrible time as we come to terms with the loss of such a wonderful human being. He loved his family, friends and fans very much. He will truly be missed.”
Jason is best known as the Green Ranger in the first season of the show, who became the White Ranger later on and the leader of the Power Rangers. He starred as the lead in over 120 episodes throughout three seasons.
He played the role again in many adaptations of Power Rangers over the years and is a long established fan-favorite of the franchise.
He was also trained in MMA and was skilled in fighting traditions like taekwondo, may Thai and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He fought professionally in the late 2000s.
Jason is survived by four children.
