Medical dramas (and comedies) have been a part of our TV viewing habits for the longest time. Now, our favorite TV doctors have banded together to salute the real-life doctors and healthcare workers on the frontlines in the battle against COVID-19.

Led by Olivia Wilde, who played Thirteen on House, cast members from Grey’s Anatomy, Scrubs, E.R., and more are came together to give a shoutout to these real-life heroes putting themselves on the line, calling for fans to help raise funds for essential resources to help them in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

“The closest thing I’ve ever come to being a doctor is putting on a costume, and while it is close, it’s not quite the same. But I just want to say thank you to the real healthcare heroes out there, and there are some other people who want to say thank you as well,” Olivia began.

Grey’s Anatomy’s Patrick Dempsey, added, “I want to thank all the doctors and the nurses. The real ones, not the ones that are on television.”

Some lightened the mood with jokes.

“I’m not a doctor, but I was paid to be one on TV. I’m pretty sure that’s the expression,” Neil Patrick Harris, of Doogie Howser fame, said. “I wish I was there with you guys to assist in my medical capacity, but probably all I would be doing would be writing prescriptions for myself, which is kind of all I did when I was 16 and 17.”

“I know that they’re recruiting retired doctors and nurses, and if you want to recruit the fake doctors, we are ready,” Scrubs’ Sarah Chalke added. “We can hand you… stuff!”

And everyone showed their love and gratitude for all the hard work of the first responders, who Olivia dubbed as “actual healthcare superheroes.”

“I hope you can find some comfort in knowing you’re being thought about and prayed for,” Nurse Jackie’s Edie Falco shared.

“Thank you for your courage and for going out there into the world and doing everything you can to fight this horrible, horrible virus,” Scrubs star Zach Braff added.

Others who shared messages include Scrubs star Donald Faison, E.R.’s Julianna Margulies, Maura Tierney, House’s cast members Lisa Edelstein, Jennifer Morrison, Omar Epps, Kal Penn, and Peter Jacobson, Grey’s Anatomy stars Sandra Oh and Kate Walsh, The Good Doctor’s Freddie Highmore and Dallas Buyers Club’s Jennifer Garner.

“Thank you, healthcare heroes,” Olivia wrote in the caption.

“On behalf of fake doctors everywhere, we want to thank the actual healthcare superheroes on the front lines of this crisis. On this #worldhealthday please consider donating to buy essential resources for these first responders who are risking their lives for us,” she continued, directing fans to Thriveglobal.com/firstresponders.
