Paris and Prince Jackson are opening up about their sibling dynamics.

In a rare joint interview, Michael Jackson’s two eldest children – Prince, 23, and Paris, 22 – got candid about their upbringing and gave fans an insight into their close bond.

Although Prince is the eldest, he acknowledges that Paris is more the leader of their group, which also includes their youngest brother, 18-year-old Blanket.

“The way we were raised, me being the oldest, I should be the one that’s protecting the group,” Prince shared in their recent interview on Good Morning America.

And Paris leads with her vulnerability. “I do wear my heart on my sleeve, or so I’ve been told,” she said. “I’m very expressive with my face, so people can usually tell when something’s wrong.”

She also opened up about how her passion for music began as a way to help her deal with her emotions growing up.

“I think a part of it was, a good portion of it was just being that age and going through the trials and tribulations of a 15-year-old girl. Also, just trauma. Trauma is, you know, it’s the seed to any kind of unhealthy coping skill that you choose,” she shared, talking about her song “Geronimo,” which she wrote when she was 15.

Prince couldn’t be prouder of his sister.

“I remember when my sister first played ‘Geronimo’ for me. I can hear and feel all the emotion and pain and hurt that went into that song,” he said of the song. “I just remember thinking that, you know, this was a song, I think, that other people could relate to, but other people needed to hear.”

And hearing his support totally moved Paris. “He’s everything to me, you know?” she says with a smile. “I’ve always looked up to him and always wanted his approval and everything, and wanted to be more like him. So to hear him approve, not just approve but enjoy what I do, it’s everything to me.”

Paris’ band, The Soundflowers, which comprise of her and boyfriend Gabriel Glenn, recently dropped some new music. The pair also stars in a Facebook Watch Series:  Unfiltered: Paris Jackson & Gabriel Glenn, where they open up about their journey making folk music and the trying times Paris faced since her dad’s death in 2009.

But at the end of the day, Prince still watches out for his sister.

“She’s making music and putting it out there,” Prince said. “I feel that, you know, obviously, with Michael Jackson’s daughter coming out, there’s a lot of sharks and people out there who wanna just take advantage of that.”

The two actually worked together on the music video for her song “Your Look (Glorious).”

“It was awesome,” Prince told GMA about making the music video with his sister. “‘Cause when we were growing up, we would be talking as a family about working together in the future. So it was cool to see the dynamic change, where she was the talent and the artist for the music video. And I was the producer, kinda behind the scenes, putting everything together.”
