Phoebe Tonkin is officially a married woman!
The 35-year-old Australian actress, best known for her role in The Vampire Diaries, tied the knot with art advisor and curator Bernard Lagrange in a chic New York City wedding that looked like it came straight out of a fashion editorial—and in fact, it did. Their stylish day was beautifully featured in Vogue, offering fans a peek into the elegant celebration.
The wedding festivities kicked off with an intimate rehearsal dinner at the iconic Mr. Chow, where Phoebe wowed in a vintage John Galliano dress. But the main event was pure couture fantasy: for the ceremony, Phoebe wore a custom ivory lace gown by Chanel, designed just for her.
The couple exchanged vows during a spiritual, non-denominational ceremony at All Souls Church in uptown Manhattan, followed by a sophisticated reception at Eleven Madison Park, one of the city’s most prestigious restaurants. For the reception, Phoebe slipped into a second custom look, this time a sleek dress by Magda Butrym.
The celebration was filled with friends and family from the worlds of film, fashion, and art. Her Vampire Diaries co-star and longtime friend Claire Holt served as one of her bridesmaids, while other famous guests included Samara Weaving, Teresa Palmer, Margot Robbie, Annabelle Wallis, Eiza González, and Nina Dobrev. Vogue’s own Darren McDonald, a friend and renowned fashion photographer, captured every dreamy moment.
On Instagram, Phoebe shared her heartfelt gratitude to those who helped bring her wedding vision to life. “Thank you so much, @chanelofficial, for making my dream wedding dress a reality. I am beyond grateful to the incredible team and the skilled ateliers who dedicated countless hours, love and craftsmanship to making the most beautiful wedding dress I’ve ever seen. A dream come true,” she wrote.
She also gave love to Magda Butrym for her party gown, saying, “Thank you @magdabutrym for the perfect custom after party gown 🤍 you are incredible, and I felt so beautiful all evening (and into the early hours!).” And the bride didn’t forget her inner circle, adding, “Lastly, thank you my darling @mollyhoward at @lalignenyc for making the coziest, cutest pajamas for my bridesmaids and I with our wedding date inscribed. Love you big.”
Though the couple kept their relationship mostly under the radar, they went public in October 2024 with news of their engagement on Instagram. Bernard, who studied art history at Princeton and now works at Sotheby’s, is known for his low-key presence—something that clearly suits Phoebe’s more private personal life.
Before settling down with Bernard, Phoebe was linked to musician Alex Greenwald in 2020, and famously dated Vampire Diaries co-star Paul Wesley from 2013 to 2017.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
