Post Malone’s got a new smile that will light up any room – especially with the combined total of 12 carats of diamonds set in his fangs.
Dentist-to-the-stars Thomas Connelly debuted Posty’s new chompers on his Instagram, showing off the rapper’s new porcelain veneers and blinged-out fangs – and they’re not just bedazzled teeth either. Each canine was set with a whole (estimated) six-carat diamond cut to fit the whole tooth!
According to Thomas, making Posty’s “epic ICE smile” happen was years in the making.
The two met a few years ago when the “Rockstar” rapper was looking to get some teeth fixed. At the time, he hadn’t done anything as wild as creating a whole diamond tooth, but agreed to try it for Posty.
The whole process was a collaborative effort among him, cosmetic dentist Naoki Hayashi, and Isaac Bokhoor of Angel City Jewelers, and it took about a year-and-a-half of trial-and-error before getting it just right – plus give or take a few more months to figure out how to install them.
“It’s very difficult to cut holes in diamonds without destroying them,” Thomas told Rolling Stone, noting that, “If you get a six-carat canine tooth, you need a 12-carat raw cube. So there’s a lot of waste.”
“That diamond, they could have got three or four other diamonds out of it, so we had to waste it in order to get it into shape,” he added.
The whole procedure reportedly set Posty back a whopping $1.6 Million!
And according to the dentist, the fangs are “two functional, full diamond teeth” which can be brushed like just normal teeth.
Looks like Post has started a new trend, too. Apparently, there’s a waiting list with some famous names on it.
“I’ve been talking to a few other people who were waiting to see how this turned out before they dropped their million. So we’ll see,” Thomas told RS.
