Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrated their third wedding anniversary on Wednesday (May 19) by announcing a new initiative for their non-profit, Archewell Foundation.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they have partnered with World Central Kitchens to build a Community Relief Center in India – one of the countries hardest hit by the recent surge of COVID-19 cases.
The new Community Relief Center will be based in Mumbai and is the third of four Community Relief Centers planned by both organizations.
Per the Archewell website, “The purpose of these centers is to provide relief and resilience (as well as healing and strength) for the communities in which they’re based. During future crises, these centers can be quickly activated as emergency response kitchens—or vaccination sites—and through calmer times they can serve as food distribution hubs, schools, clinics, or community gathering spaces for families.”
The couple is known for getting really creative with their anniversary presents for each other. For their first anniversary, which is symbolized by paper, Meghan wrote down their vows – FYI, Duchess has got major calligraphy skills – had it framed and gifted it to Harry. So far, no news on what they gave each other for year 3, which is leather, but it’s probably something uber creative and meaningful.
ICYMI, the Royal Family’s official IG account announced on Wednesday (May 19) that Prince Harry’s cousin Princess Beatrice and hubby Edoardo Mapelli-Mozzi are expecting their first child together.
Some fans were quick to note the curious timing of the announcement – Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly told members of the Royal Family about their baby news during Princess Beatrice’s sister, Princess Eugenie’s, October 2018 wedding.
“Meghan and Harry announcing their pregnancy on Eugenie’s wedding day and now Princess Beatrice announcing her pregnancy on their 3rd wedding anniversary,” one Twitter user wrote.
Another noted, “I don’t think it’s accidentally that Princess Beatrice announced her pregnancy on Prince Harry & Meghan’s third anniversary.”
A “highly placed source” tells Page Six that it was “a total dig” at the Sussexes. “They stole Eugenie’s thunder on her big day, after all, and it appears that has not been forgotten,” said highly placed source tells the outlet.
Then again, Beatrice and Harry get on pretty well – and Eugenie lives in Harry and Meghan’s London home, Frogmore Cottage. Another source tells the outlet, “Beatrice and Eugenie do really like Harry and Meghan.” However, the source admits the timing is pretty weird, adding, “but Beatrice must have known what the timing would look like, surely?”
There might not be any drama at all. For all we know, the cousins may have talked about it beforehand – and there’s probably no issue with either party whatsoever. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time the couple communicated with their fam outside of the spotlight – when Prince William and Kate Middleton celebrated their 10th anniversary last month, Prince Harry and Meghan’s rep said they privately congratulated the couple on the momentous occasion.
