While we’re all celebrating Easter Sunday (April 21), the royal family had even more reason to celebrate – Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, turning 93!
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle posted a sweet tribute for The Queen on their Instagram account @sussexroyal for the occasion, sharing a series of photos of the royal matriarch (and, yes, throwbacks were included!).
“Happy Birthday Your Majesty, Ma’am, Granny. Wishing you the most wonderful day! 🎈Harry & Meghan,” the Duke and Ducchess of Sussex captioned the photos.
Members of the royal family attended a special service on Sunday at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. The color of the day appears to be blue as The Queen, Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry were all photographed on the chapel grounds in color-coordinated attires of various shades of blue.
Happy Birthday, Your Majesty!
Expecting mother, Meghan, who is nearing her due date, wasn’t at the Easter service. But soon, there will be even more cause to celebrate because parents-to-be Prince Harry and Meghan’s baby is due at the end of April or early May.
It appears everyone is getting ready for the royal baby’s arrival as Meghan’s mom, Doria Ragland, has also reportedly arrived in London ahead of the baby’s birth.
While everyone is eagerly anticipating the announcement, the public probably won’t know exactly when the baby will have arrived. Earlier this month, a statement from the Kensington Palace has announced that the royal couple will not be announcing the birth of their baby.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very grateful for the goodwill they have received from people throughout the United Kingdom and around the world as they prepare to welcome their baby,” the statement read. “Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private.”
The statement concludes, “The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”
Prince Harry and Meghan will reportedly have a photo call with their newborn on the grounds of Windsor Castle.
