Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are completing the process of stepping back from their duties as senior members of the Royal Family.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared one last post on their Sussex Royal Instagram, thanking their followers for “the support, the inspiration, and the shared commitment to the good in the world.”
They wrote:
“As we can all feel, the world at this moment seems extraordinarily fragile. Yet we are confident that every human being has the potential and opportunity to make a difference—as seen now across the globe, in our families, our communities, and those on the front line—together we can lift each other up to realise the fullness of that promise.
“What’s most important right now is the health and well-being of everyone across the globe and finding solutions for the many issues that have presented themselves as a result of this pandemic.
“As we all find the part we are to play in this global shift and changing of habits, we are focusing this new chapter to understand how we can best contribute.
“While you may not see us here, the work continues.
“Thank you to this community—for the support, the inspiration, and the shared commitment to the good in the world. We look forward to reconnecting with you soon. You’ve been great!
“Until then, please take good care of yourselves, and of one another.
Harry and Meghan”
Aside from no longer using their Instagram, they also will no longer use their Sussex Royal website.
Royal reporter Omid Scobie also reports that their plans for the Sussex Royal Foundation will no longer be pushing through, and that they will instead put up a brand-new charitable foundation of their own.
Their final post comes after reports that Prince Harry and Meghan have moved to Los Angeles.
They previously announced plans to split their time between the U.K. and North America, and according to a source, “It was always their plan to eventually be based in California since their work life will be focused in the US.”
As many fans undoubtedly know, L.A. is Meghan’s hometown – she was born and raised in the city. Her mom, Doria Ragland, also lives in the area.
As they kick off their new chapter as non-royals (they were allowed to keep their HRH titles, but they refuse to use them), Omid says that the couple have also made private arrangements for their security.
“As confirmed last night, the Sussexes have made their own private security arrangements. “Reporting and speculation on security measures,” says a rep, “adds risk to all this receiving protection. . . and potentially members of the public.” No further comment will be made,” he wrote in a tweet.
There’s been speculation that Meghan will make a return to acting after their exit from the Royal Family, with reports coming out that she had signed a voiceover deal with Disney.
On Thursday (March 26), Disney released a teaser trailer for an upcoming documentary film, Elephant, which will debut on the company’s streaming platform on April 3 in anticipation of Earth Day.
According to reports, as part of Meghan’s agreement to participate in the film, Disneynature and the Disney Conservation Fund will be making a donation to Elephants Without Borders, organization in Botswana working to ensure that both people and elephants thrive.
It’s not entirely clear when the Sussexes moved to the city (their rep has yet to respond to requests for comments), but sources say the royal couple has been practicing safe behaviors to help flatten the curve and slow the spread of the coronavirus.
Harry and Meghan are gonna be busy settling into their new lives, but, as previously announced, their new arrangements will be up for review again in 12 months by the Royal Family.
