Prince Harry and Meghan Markle continue to do philanthropic work.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been in Los Angeles for a few months now, but they haven’t wasted any time trying to find ways to help the community.

Although they’ve mostly kept things on the DL, the couple has been volunteering and supporting important causes since the early days of the coronavirus pandemic.

In April, they donated $112,000 –  earnings from their May 2018 wedding broadcast – to the U.K. charity Feeding Britain and personally delivered meals to people living with critical illnesses through Project Angel Food.

Prince Harry also took time to bring some comfort to vulnerable families during this difficult time – he sat down for a video chat with parents of seriously ill children, offering up encouragement and praise as he listened to their stories and struggles.

In May, the Sussexes celebrated Archie’s first birthday by supporting a good cause – helping kids struggling due to school closures amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Duchess of Sussex read a story for charity – the beloved children’s story, Duck! Rabbit! – with her adorable baby boy helping turn the page. The precious clip, which was shot by Prince Harry, was posted on Save The Children’s Instagram account and shared on Save With Stories Instagram.

Most recently, they spent some time cooking and chatting with the Homies of Homeboy Industries – an organization working to improve the lives of formerly incarcerated and previously gang-involved people in L.A.

Homeboy Industries shared some details about the couple’s “remarkable” visit to their organization on Instagram. “Thank you to Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, for visiting and standing in kinship with our Café and Bakery teams yesterday! Our staff was thrilled to work alongside them as they helped prepare food and learned more about our newly launched #FeedHOPE program, which employs our program participants to provide meals to food-insecure seniors and youth across Los Angeles in the wake of the #COVID19 pandemic,” they captioned the group photo.

Father Greg Boyle, who runs the organization, also talked about Prince Harry and Meghan’s interactions with the Homines.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were just ‘Harry and Meghan’ to the homies,” Greg said of the couple’s visit. “They rolled up their sleeves and deeply engaged with our workers in the Bakery and Café. It was immediate kinship and heartening in its mutuality.”

Apparently, Meghan’s known him since her high school days – he was already running Homeboy Industries back then. She and her mom, Doria Ragland, joined a cooking workshop with him over two decades ago, and it seems they’ve kept in touch over the years.

Nowadays, Meghan and Prince Harry have been speaking to Father Greg about the racial justice movement.

But it seems the couple is gearing up to do even more philanthropic work. They have reportedly “signed with the Harry Walker Agency” – the same agency that represents the Obamas, along with other high-profile individuals – to handle their speaking engagements.

According to an Entertainment Tonight source, the couple is “firmly committed to social issues the world is facing now, including racial justice, gender equity and mental health” and will be participating in keynote speeches, trade events and community forums to “further their philanthropic goals.”

One thing they’re for sure not going to be talking about is discussing anything about the royal family. “They have no plans to do any speaking engagements about the royal family,” the source said.
