10 years ago, the world tuned in to watch Prince William, second in line to the British throne, marry his long-time girlfriend, Kate Middleton. A decade of memories and three adorable children later, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are still totally loved up!
Their official Instagram account, Kensington Royal, shared some uber sweet portraits of the royal couple taken at their palace home to mark their “tin” wedding anniversary.
In one photo, Kate is cuddled up to William’s chest, with her head resting on his shoulders. Oh, and he’s got his arm around her waist while flashing a big grin at the camera.
The next photo shows them sitting down on a piece of wood holding hands, with Kate leaning against William and he’s looking at her as she smiles radiantly.
They also looked so cute in color-coordinated outfits – William in a shirt, sweater and pants in different blue hues; Kate in a floral baby blue-and-white wrap dress.
While Prince William and Kate aren’t exactly the most PDA couple out there, that doesn’t mean they’re not at all affectionate – mostly it’s because of royal etiquette. They have been known to indulge in some PDA-y moments when they’re not officially working or attending more informal events.
Prince William and Kate met in college – they were both students at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland – and started dating in 2003. After a brief break after college, they rekindled their romance and announced their engagement in 2010.
On April 29, 2011, the couple tied the knot in a fairy-tale ceremony year at Westminster Abbey and became the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. They spent the first few years of their marriage living in North Wales during William’s stint as a search and rescue pilot in the RAF.
They’ve since established themselves as senior royals They welcomed their first child, Prince George on July 22, 2013. Almost two years later, Princess Charlotte, arrived on May 2, 2015. The Cambridges became a family of five with the arrival of Prince Louis on April 23, 2018.
Just days before celebrating their 10th anniversary, the royal couple celebrated Prince Louis’ third birthday as well as a milestone moment for their youngest child – his first day of pre-school.
To mark the occasion, they shared a new photo of Prince Louis sporting a backpack and riding his red bike, which was snapped by the proud mom herself.
“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to share a new photograph ahead of Prince Louis’ third birthday tomorrow,” Kensington Palace said in a statement on Thursday (April 22).
Earlier this week, Prince William and Kate visited a farm in the northeast of England and met with those helped by the Cheesy Waffles Project (CWP) – an organization that helps provide young people with learning disabilities with skills and independence they will need in their future. It’s also one of the organizations which received money from their £1M wedding charity fund 10 years ago.
Since there’s an ongoing pandemic, Prince William and Kate were snapped switching to elbow bumps instead of the usual handshake to greet people. The royal couple also tried their hand at golf during their visit – and shared some laughs over some golf fails.
Kate had lined up her shot carefully – only to miss the ball completely on her first swing, which had her bursting out in laughter. She managed to hit it on the second try though. Prince William, on the other hand, hit the ball on his first go.
Looks like they’ve also been enjoying the days leading up to their marriage milestone.
Happy Anniversary to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge!
