Family is family. They have each other’s backs. They protect their own.
And the Jonas family is definitely out to protect one of their own – Nick Jonas’ wife, Priyanka Chopra.
On Tuesday (December 4), New York Magazine’s The Cut published an article titled “Is Priyanka Chopra’s Love for Real?” In the feature, the author hit hard at the newest member of the Jonas family, harshly labelling her a “global scam artist.” These exact words were used in the article:
“At times, marriage can be a beautifully wonderful union that warms even the coldest of hearts, but sadly, this union evokes no such feeling.
All Nick wanted was a possible fling with Hollywood’s latest It Woman, but instead he wound up staring straight at a life sentence with a global scam artist. Nick, if you’re reading this, find that horse and gallop away as fast you can!”
Well, Nick’s older brother Joe was having none of it. Immediately taking to social media, he expressed his disgust at what was written:
“This is disgusting. @TheCut should be ashamed to have someone write such evil words. What Nick & Pri have is Beautiful Love. Thank u, Next.”
Joe’s fiancé Sophie Turner, who was a bridesmaid at Nick and Priyanka’s wedding, also had strong words to say about the piece:
“This is wildly inappropriate and totally disgusting. Very disappointed that The Cut would give anyone a platform to spew such bulls–t.”
Bravo for standing up for Priyanka, Joe and Sophie!
The newly-wedded Priyanka has also responded to the article. Speaking to Hindustan Times, she stated:
“I don’t even want to react or comment. It’s not even in my stratosphere. I’m in a happy place at this moment. These kind of random things can’t disturb it.”
What a graceful response.
Kudos, Priyanka. We wish you nothing but love and happiness in this wonderful time in your life!
The article has been receiving a lot of flak online, with countless expressing their ire at the “sexist”, “racist”, and “judgmental” sentiments of the piece.
Now, the article has been removed from the page – and The Cut has issued an apology. A note on The Cut reads:
“Last night, the Cut published a post about Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra’s relationship that shouldn’t have gone up. We’ve received dozens of messages from readers expressing their anger.
We want you to know that we hear you and we’re sorry. The whole piece missed the mark. There is no good explanation for this other than human error and poor judgement.
This was a mistake, and we apologize to our readers and to Priyanka and Nick.”
