A recent video that surfaced of Quavo and Saweetie reportedly having a fight in an elevator has sparked speculations that there might be more drama to their recent breakup.

Earlier this week, a video published by TMZ showed Saweetie and Quavo involved in a physical altercation in an elevator at her L.A. apartment last year – Saweetie struck out at Quavo, who dodged the hit, and throws a suitcase out of an elevator; Quvao then pulled his then-girlfriend into the elevator and tried to prevent her from exiting, falling on top of her.

For most of the minute-and-a-half clip, Saweetie was on the floor. She later struggles to pick herself up and limps out of the elevator.

Saweetie addressed the video in a statement to People on Thursday (April 1).

“This unfortunate incident happened a year ago, while we have reconciled since then and moved past this particular disagreement, there were simply too many other hurdles to overcome in our relationship and we have both since moved on,” Saweetie said in the statement. “I kindly ask that everyone respect my privacy during this time.”

Quavo has also spoken out about the video, telling the outlet, “We had an unfortunate situation almost a year ago that we both learned and moved on from. I haven’t physically abused Saweetie and have real gratitude for what we did share overall.”

Quavo and Saweetie dated for three years before sparking split speculations when fans noticed they were no longer following each other on social media.

Saweetie confirmed in a tweet that they had called it quits.

“I’m single,” she announced on Twitter March 19.

“I’ve endured too much betrayal and hurt behind the scenes for a false narrative to be circulating that degrades my character,” she continued. “Presents don’t band aid scars and the love isn’t real when the intimacy is given to other women.”

“I emotionally checked out a long time ago and have walked away with a deep sense of peace and freedom. Excited for this new chapter of elevation,” she went on.

Quavo has since responded to Saweetie’s tweets, writing, “I know you want to make this into a show so I’ll play my part just this one time. I don’t normally put my business out there, especially my personal life. I feel the need to address this so there are no false narratives.”

He also added, “I had love for you and disappointed you did all that. You are not the woman I thought you were. I wish you nothing but the best [prayer hands emoji]”

But it looks like Saweetie’s said all she had to say and just responded: “Take care.”
