Members of the royal family rushed to Balmoral Castle in Scotland on Thursday (September 8) as news of her declining health came out. She passed away that same day. Who was with her when she died?
An insider close to the royal family has told outlets that the queen’s eldest son, Prince Charles — who is now King Charles III — and his wife Camilla — who is now the Queen Consort — were both able to see Her Highness before she passed away. Princess Anne, Elizabeth’s daughter, was likewise able to see her.
Unfortunately, other members of the family sadly arrived too late.
The queen’s sons Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, and his wife Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, all arrived after her death. So did her grandson and King Charles’ son, Prince William. Prince Harry, who is Prince William’s brother, arrived after Her Majesty’s passing was announced.
Outlets also learned that Prince Harry’s wife Meghan Markle was not invited to join the royal family in Scotland. Prince William’s wife Kate Middleton likewise stayed behind, to be there for her and William’s three kids on their first day back at Lambrook School.
Queen Elizabeth passed away at the age of 96 after serving a historic 70 years on the throne.
