Rachel Bilson just dropped a low-key but sweet Star Wars reference—and fans are loving the subtle tribute to her ex, Hayden Christensen.

On Sunday (April 27), the Hart of Dixie alum shared a playful video on Instagram that had a definite Force vibe. In the clip, 43-year-old Rachel and a friend are seen wearing Darth Vader masks while goofing around and pressing buttons that trigger some of the villain’s iconic lines from the Star Wars films.

“Are you even a mom if you’ve never done this?” Rachel captioned the video, adding a touch of humor to the moment.

While her 10-year-old daughter Briar Rose wasn’t on camera, another little girl can be seen helping Rachel and her friend adjust their masks before they fully get into character. The whole scene feels like classic mom mode—having fun with your kids and fully leaning into it, Darth Vader voice changer and all.

But for fans who know Rachel’s past, the reference carries a little more weight. The actress shares daughter Briar with her ex-partner Hayden Christensen, who famously played Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequel trilogy—ultimately transforming into Darth Vader, one of the most iconic villains in movie history.

The former couple first met on the set of their 2008 film Jumper and were engaged later that year. Though they went their separate ways in 2017 after nearly a decade together, they’ve remained committed co-parents ever since.

Her post felt especially timely—coming just ahead of Star Wars Day on May the 4th and amid renewed fan appreciation for Christensen’s return to the universe in Disney+ series like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka.
