It’s confirmed: Rita Ora and Taika Waititi are married!
Reports came out back in August of 2022 that the 32-year-old singer and the 47-year-old filmmaker had said their “I dos” in an intimate ceremony held in London. However, neither have officially confirmed the rumor since it came out — that is, until now.
Rita has now broken her silence about her and Taika’s relationship status, revealing that the two have indeed tied the knot.
On Friday (January 27), as she promoted her new single “You Only Love Me” on the Heart Breakfast radio show, she spoke about her wedding to Taika for the very first time.
She sweetly declared:
“Yes [I am married]. I am officially off the market, people.
I chose to keep it more private and keep it to myself.”
Rita shared that she and Taika chose to have a small wedding, but that the music video for her new song touches “on what could have been.” She said:
“When the rumors came out ‘is she, isn’t she?’ I wanted to play on it. I wanted to do a wedding that didn’t go to plan… that’s not to say that is actually what happened.”
And as for what did happen on her wedding, she stated that it was “perfect,” gushing:
“It was exactly, exactly how I wanted. It is nice to keep some things just to myself sometimes. It was nice and sweet…
Sorry it’s not that interesting. One day I will throw a big party.”
She added that she “knew the questions were going to come” about her marriage, and shared that her new music is “inspired by where I am at [in my life]”:
“I just thought I may as well put it in my music. So this is the first time where the music does all the talking. It explains my love story which is on the album.”
