Rolling Stone is receiving major backlash for their list of the 200 Greatest Singers Of All Time.
The magazine released their controversial list and fans quickly noticed that one exceptional vocalist was missing: Celine Dion.
Rolling Stone established early on in the piece that their list may not feature the most talented “vocalists.” The wrote:
“Before you start scrolling (and commenting), keep in mind that this is the Greatest Singers list, not the Greatest Voices List.
Talent is impressive; genius is transcendent. Sure, many of the people here were born with massive pipes, perfect pitch, and boundless range. Others have rougher, stranger, or more delicate instruments.”
Notable inclusions in Rolling Stone’s list include Billie Eilish (#198), Kelly clarkson (#194), BTS’ Jung Kook (#191), Ozzy Osbourne (#112), Taylor Swift (#102), Michael Jackson (#86), Adele (#22), Beyonce (#8), Mariah Carey (#4), Whitney Houston (#2), and Aretha Franklin at the top spot.
However, fans are expressing their disbelief and outrage that Celine Dion is not on the list, despite having a phenomenal singing voice and an outstanding international career. Celine immediately trended on social media following the release of the list, with many sharing their disappointment at her exclusion.
Other blatant omissions as cited by fans included Barbra Streisand, Cher, Luther Vandross, Judy Garland, Jennifer Hudson, and more.
