We may have watched our fave Harry Potter stars have kids of their own onscreen, but Rupert Grint just officially became a dad IRL.
“Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are delighted to confirm the birth of their baby girl. We would please ask that you respect their privacy at this very special time,” his rep said in a statement, via Entertainment Tonight.
Rupert and his long-time girlfriend, actress Georgia Groome, announced a month ago that they were expecting their first child together, after they were spotted in London, with Georgia’s baby bump visible.
“Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are excited to announce they are expecting a baby and would please ask for privacy at this time,” the statement issued at the time read.
The couple sparked marriage rumors last year, when Ron was seen sporting a gold band on his left ring finger, but it looks like those speculations have since been debunked.
The 31-year-old actor, who’s best known for playing Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter franchise, is uber private about his personal life, but he previously shared whether he would show the films to his future kids.
“It’s kind of surreal, but of course I will,” he told ET. “It was a huge part of my life.”
In other baby news…
Elon Musk and Grimes came up with a pretty unusual name for their newborn son. The couple welcomed their first child together – Elon’s sixth, Grimes’ first – on Monday (May 4). They’ve since announced the name of their bundle of joy: X Æ A-12 Musk.
According to Grimes, the name means: “X, the unknown variable. Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence). A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). No weapons, no defenses, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent + (A=Archangel, my favorite song) ( metal rat).” – Elon made a teeny tiny correction on the aircraft, writing: “SR-71, but yes.”
Amid many fans’ confusion on how to read the symbols, the couple finally shared how to pronounce their son’s name – but it seems they can’t agree on how to pronounce it either.
“Well, first of all, it was my partner [Grimes] who actually mostly came up with the name,” The Tesla Founder shared on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. “Yeah, she’s great at names.”
“I mean it’s just X, the letter X. And then, the Æ is, like, pronounced ‘Ash’… and then, A-12, A-12 is my contribution.”
But, according to Grimes, “It’s just X, like the letter X. Then A.I. Like how you said the letter A then I,” in a response to a query on Instagram.
Hmmm…They may have to sort that out. However, they may have to think of a new name altogether – multiple news outlets report that the name, as it’s currently spelled, might not even be valid in California due to restrictions on what characters can be used on vital records like birth certificates.
It’s still unclear though whether that’s actually the name they wrote down on the birth certificate or if they’re going to amend it.
