Paul Cattermole has sadly died at the age of 46.
The S Club 7 member’s passing was confirmed on Friday (April 7) by his bandmates. They released an emotional statement on Instagram:
“We are truly devastated by the passing of our brother Paul.
There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel. We were so lucky to have had him in our lives and are thankful for the amazing memories we have. He will be so deeply missed by each and every one of us. We ask that you respect the privacy of his family and of the band at this time.”
Paul’s family also confirmed the sad news with a statement of their own which they released to Manchester Evening News. The statement read:
“It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved son and brother Paul Cattermole. Paul was found yesterday, 6th April 2023 at his home in Dorset and was pronounced dead later that afternoon.
While the cause of death is currently unknown, Dorset Police has confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances. Paul’s family, friends and fellow members of S Club 7 request privacy at this time.
S Club 7 had just announced a month earlier that a reunion tour was coming from the band. A source close to the group now shares that the tour will go on as planned, saying:
“The members are still reeling from the shock of Paul’s tragic death, but they all feel that continuing with the tour is what Paul would have wanted.”
The reunion tour was originally planned for the group’s 25th anniversary. Now the tour, happening in the UK and Ireland, will also be a tribute to Paul. The insider stated:
“[Paul] was so excited about getting on stage again and feeling really positive about the reunion so it feels like the right thing to do. Management thinks it would be a lovely tribute to Paul and a great way to keep his much-loved memory alive.”
S Club 7’s six remaining members – Hannah Spearritt, Rachel Stevens, Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh, Tina Barrett, and Jo O’Meara – are said to be meeting with their longtime manager Simon fuller to discuss the tour and ensure that everyone is “feeling happy and comfortable.”
