Scottie Pippen is in mourning after suffering a terrible loss – his eldest child, Antron, passed away on Sunday (April 18) at the age of 33.

The NBA Hall Of Famer shared the sad news on Twitter Monday (April 19), writing, “I’m heartbroken to share that yesterday, I said goodbye to my firstborn son Antron. The two of us shared a love for basketball and we had countless conversations about the game,” along with photos of himself with his son.

Antron is Scottie’s only child with first wife Karen McCollum – they were married from 1988 to 1990. Born in 1987, he went on to play college basketball at South Georgia Technical College and Texas A&M International University.

“Antron suffered from chronic asthma and if he hadn’t had it, I truly believe he would’ve made it to the NBA,” Scottie continued. “He never let that get him down, though – Antron stayed positive and worked hard, and I am so proud of the man that he became.”

“Please keep his mom, Karen, and all of his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers. A kind heart and beautiful soul gone way too soon. I love you, son, rest easy until we meet again,” he added.

The former NBA star did not reveal Antron’s cause of death.

Scottie’s ex-wife, Larsa Pippen, also paid tribute to Antron on social media.

“Some truths in life are hard to accept. Your memories will never be forgotten! They will always remain with us forever. You are forever in our hearts, we love u and will miss u always,” she wrote on Instagram Story. “Rip Antron.”

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Antron’s loved ones during this difficult time.
