
Apparently, Camp Rock could have been very, very different.
A resurfaced interview has been making the rounds lately which revealed that Selena Gomez actually turned down the movie so that Demi Lovato could get it. Selena and Demi were very good friends at the time.
The interview, which has resurfaced following the release of Selena’s documentary My Mind & Me, showed director David DeLuise, who played Selena’s dad on Wizards Of Waverly Place, saying that Selena turned down the starring role so that it would go to Demi. He said:
“I’ve never really said this story, but . . . they offered ‘Camp Rock’ to Selena. And Selena knew that if she had passed on it, that Demi would get the part.”
David went on to say that it was “very nice of her to do,” adding:
“And they were friends. They were on the show ‘Barney’ together.”
The seconds-long soundbite resurfaced amidst the controversies that Selena has been faced with due to some recent comments she made about friendships.
